About

Hi.  My name is Chili Dawg.  I was rescued in 2003 by my current owners, Jenna & Ryan (but I really belong just to Jenna).  My first owners treated me okay, but they would let their little boy bite me and hit me, and then when they decided to divorce, neither of them wanted me.  They gave me to my mom and dad for free, and I am SOOOOO glad they did!  They took good care of me and took me to the vet so I could get rid of all my infections.

The next year, they could tell I was lonely, so they rescued my Boxer brother, Finch from another family that didn’t want him (they’d leave him on a tie out all day and night).  We hit it off and have been inseperable ever since.

At the end of April 2011, I started to limp, so my dad took me to the vet.  She thought it was just arthritis and sent me home with an anti-inflammatory pill.  My limp got worse, and after a week my dad took me back to the vet and they did an x-ray.  That’s when the word osteosarcoma popped up.  We were referred to an oncologist.  When we got home, my dad waited until my mom was done putting the kids to bed and told her.  She buried her head in my fur and cried.

I had my biopsy done the next day.  Then we had to wait for the results.  The results came back and I had osteosarcoma in my ulna in my right forelimb.  The doctors gave us the options, and my parents elected amputation.  On May 11, 2011, I became a tripawd, and I have felt much better ever since.
